That being said, yesterday's run kicked my butt. I made it about 4.5 miles (run/walk), but the pain in my left foot that has been plaguing me since I ran the half marathon in may kicked in. BAH. I was definitely bummed that I didn't quite perform the way that I was hoping to, but it's okay! I decided to shake it off and see how I felt today - and turns out, I actually feel pretty great! I expected to be fairly sore after that, but I woke up feeling rested and ready to do it again.
I also totally fell in love with Vega Electrolyte Hydrator.
Pom-Berry tastes like a mix between bubble gum and cotton candy, no joke.
I decided to try for another quick run today - I started out strong for about 10 minutes but then my legs really started cramping up, which I was bummed about. BUT - I was happy with what I was able to do. I'm going to take a rest day tomorrow and enjoy my Friday - already packed a big healthy lunch for tomorrow at work!
|Needs to be a new mantra:|
Stop getting lost in the numbers and just push for your best.
I feel like I've been in a rut lately where I judge myself too hard on the numbers on my watch/treadmill - so, I decided throw my sweatshirt over the treadmill stats so that I don't over think it and sike myself out. It's easy to get too in to the numbers and stats instead of just running and listening to your body. Despite my short, painful, run today, I was actually pushing myself harder and running better than I have for a while. I was happy with that.
As an additional update... I've decided not to run in the 10K on Sunday morning. I'm still going to run, but I need to put more focus on training and running consistently before I start pushing myself too hard and burn myself out (or, hurt myself, given the calf and foot issues). My next 10K on October 5th I am actually pretty excited for - it's on a wooded trail course and supposed to be lovely. There's no backing out of this one - I can't wait. :)
